[Jessie's been out of sorts since... basically everything that happened in the entire month of October. But Buzz and his actions in helping Fern are still grating on her and she really dislikes that they are. Jessie hasn't got the same skill in repression as the others have. She's not great at shoving her feelings down and pretending they're not there.
But she knows she can't let those particular feelings spill all over Buzz, either. He shouldn't be made to feel cruddy just because she feels cruddy. She's pretty sure that would be unfair. And so, blissfully unaware that Woody has already had a super fun conversation with Buzz already, she's turning to you, bro.]
Hey. You around? To talk, I mean?
[At some point she will regret this and wish she'd reached out to Bo- but them's the breaks.]
[Oh, Woody feels plenty of guilt in not being around enough to always keep them all out danger (and isn't that just an impossible task, when the entire town is armed to the teeth in ways to kill or hurt both humans and toys alike). It's not like he hasn't noticed how worried the others get; he gets worried about them, too. It's not like he hasn't noticed that they're collecting scratches here, little rips there. Scuffs on boots and cracks in plastic. He's honestly still having miniature panic attacks over the fact that Bo needs to tape her arm on — and that hasn't even happened here!
But here he sits, having found a spot in the backyard on a patio table to sit and think.]
Of course, Jess, you know I'm always around to talk.
Woody, I don't want to alarm you by saying I need some urgent assistance [but he's going to do just that] but if you could get to the kitchen with a screwdriver in the next ten minutes, my continued consciousness would be grateful.
[a beat, then:] There's nothing severely wrong, I've just neglected to change my batteries recently. I have new ones with me, though if I pass out before you get here you can say I told you so as much as you want.
[you know, because he won't be conscious to hear it. sigh. electronic toy life.]
[You have been visited by Holy Mami! She descends from the winter night sky, presents in hand. She has a smile on her face as she hands you a gift with a note attached. It’s a homemade mini sewing kit!]
“Take care of yourself out there! Merry Christmas!”
[Before you have the chance to say anything though, she’s gone! She has a lot of gifts to deliver and little time to do so!] Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!!
[In an attempt to enthusiastically celebrate his first ever Christmas, Fern is covertly dropping off a wrapped gift addressed to Woody from him on his doorstep.
It's a toy-sized boot knife!
Because of course Fern would assume a knife makes a good holiday gift.]
[he hasn't really had time to pick out presents for the gang yet. and besides, he really has no idea what you buy for toys. which is why he instead has the makings of a few presents lined up. the first being the large collection of cardboard boxes that have been making their way into the house, ready to build the city's largest dollhouse. eventually.
there's also a small addition to the team. while droney doesn't have any kind of ai, he does at least know how to follow commands. and, more importantly, has a direct link to karen. meaning, as he'll explain to the four of them, that they can get ahold of him any time they need to, just by talking to it.
oh, and there are also the plans he has for a toy-sized entrance so they have easier access to the house. something akin to an automatic pet door. because clearly adding tech is a way better idea than just adding a smaller sized door. but right now, they're just drawn plans that he'll pull out, along with a few blank sheets of paper so they can try and brainstorm some ideas together of other things they may need around the house.
look, as long as he's a guest here, he wants to be able to offer something in return.]
[On Woody's doorstep is a small package of candy, and a crayon drawing courtesy of Mary that is a picture of herself and Woody playing cereal box guitars that she has decided to draw, along with the words "Merry Christmas!! Thank you for being my friend."
That's awful nice of you to check on me. I know I gave my pals a real scare. But I'm doing a lot better now. Back in one piece instead of a lot of pieces, that is.
[ Inside Woody's mailbox, there is a nondescript white envelope with his name on it. Inside, there is a colorful pog, with a message written on the back in silver fine-tipped sharpie. There's no stamp on the envelope, implying that it was hand delivered rather than mailed. ]
it's been real. it's been weird. it's been real weird.
see you on the flip side! – GP
[ The pog is enchanted with dream magic, so that it can be given as a gift, but cannot be lost, stolen, or destroyed. ]
[On the 25th Woody will find a gift has been left outside his door! According to the tag it's from Fern, and inside the meticulously wrapped package is a wood carved horse.

Can we talk? I've realised we haven't put some contingencies into place that we probably should.
I think I owe you an apology, too.

I'm not sure if most toys are aware of the day, though.

Merry Christmas, Woody!]

It's a bouquet of flowers! And it comes with a handwritten note:]
Hey,
I just learned about this rad human holiday where you give people stuff if they're important to you, so I hope you like flowers!
And if this isn't how the holiday works, sorry. I'm trying my best here.
